6 Essential Garments And A Few More!
I am sure that I am not the only one who asks, what am I going to wear? Or I have nothing in my closet.
I want to share an article that I wrote a while back. Since that time, I have cleaned through my closet a couple of times and have gained some new insight. I have realized that there are a few garments that I missed putting on the list that would give a few extra options and make your wardrobe more versatile.
Here they are in no real order, and below them, you will find my past article. I hope this gives you a place to start building your own wardrobe filled with garments you love and make dressing every morning less stressful.
1. Camisole- Now, a camisole might be a spaghetti strap top, or it could be Shell either with short sleeves or sleeveless style. Go with the style that makes you feel you're very best, in a neutral color that could easily be put under a blazer or sweater to complete any outfit. The colors could be as simple as white, off white, blush, or some other color that makes you feel great and fits into your color scheme.
2. Long sleeve blouse- Since I made a long sleeve white rayon blouse about two years ago, it has become my go-to garment when I’m unsure what to wear. It goes great with a pair of black dress trousers or a pair of jeans. To be honest, I already need to make another long sleeve white blouse because mine is showing its wear. I just ordered white rayon for another long sleeve blouse.
3. Skirt- The style of the skirt depends on what you like. It could be a pencil skirt or A-line or even a circle skirt. You can decide what fits your lifestyle and your wardrobe. No matter the style, one should be in a primary color like black, navy, or camel colored. Then, beyond, you can add another color.
Beyond these few basics, you can decide what works for your lifestyle, color palette, and style. Remember, this is just a place to start planning. Not to mention I have read several sewists in the online community say how they had made several garments only to realize they will never wear them as I read through some of these posts that when I started to look at my sewing plans. I realized I was doing the same thing. I want to wear what I sew or design, feel proud and enjoy wearing the items. So, here is my article filled with more information to help you build your favorite wardrobe!
